Introducing Vendor Spotlights, a series dedicated to sharing more about our many talented creators. Each spotlight is conducted in an interview-style and adapted into a bio, so we can all learn more about the artists we care about! The goal is to learn about their style and how they developed it, their favorite works, and what helped them grow as artists.

Bio: 

Yungwilder began modeling back in 2020, seeking to improve the server he played on. He was inspired by what early mods brought to the game. Yung originally focused on weapons/tools, but he was hungry to add elements from other titles into Minecraft, too. 

Those first models were really rough, like full-on voxel models made up of thousands of cubes… I am glad to have had the opportunity to continue so I could improve.

And he certainly did improve, soon gravitating towards the use of MythicMobs and Crucible to make more unique content. In 2022, Yung challenged himself to remake some of his earliest models, namely a straw hat, which he recreated in a modern style using all he had learned up to that point. 

That was a big turning point in being able to identify ways I had improved, and ways I could still improve.

What began as a hobby quickly shifted into a full-time venture. Now, when you visit his shop, you can find expansions, mobs, and even playable dynamic instruments! As long as the experience is fun or unique!

The main objective in Yungwilder’s creations is fun. When he commits time to a project, he prefers it to be something deeper and carries more layers of engagement for players. He doesn’t just make models, he creates experiences and expands upon the core game. 

Take my Archaeology or Brewing expansions for example. Both of those add various layers of new interactions and gameplay that I feel not only add content for servers, but add onto the existing MC systems…

These packs add tools and consumables, new materials, furniture, and even mobs! Tameable mobs! 

Another one of Yungwilder’s favorite products, the Redstone Wrench, fixes the most annoying part of redstone: block orientation. Rather than having to find the right angle to place your block the correct way, his wrench allows you to rotate redstone elements after placement. It seems simple, but the functionality of it makes it a hard tool to live without!

We asked Yungwilder one last question to round off the bio, a question we intend to end every spotlight with: What is your earliest memory of playing Minecraft? 

2012 in my college dorm, playing on an already dated MacBook. I vaguely remember my first base being a treehouse in a Jungle.

I think we can all recall our first treehouse… Yungwilder’s first base suits him well; he’s always looking to reach new heights!
